The MS in Criminology will equip students with the knowledge and skills for advanced roles in the field of criminology by providing students with in-depth exposure to all facets of crime.
PREREQUSITES
- A completed Bachelor’s degree issued by either a regionally accredited, four-year U.S. institution or a comparable institution recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in one’s home country.
- A 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA in the undergraduate career, or otherwise demonstrable academic readiness for graduate-level studies
- Sufficient proficiency in the English language (international applicants only)
- Approval of the faculty in the Department of Sociology
- Approval of the Graduate School
For a fall start, priority application deadline is March 1st and the final deadline is June 1st.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
The Program of Study refers to the coursework and credit hours required by a graduate program. The MS in Criminology requires the successful completion of 30 credit hours, consisting of courses related to the foundations of criminology and criminal justice, criminological theory, research methods, statistics, criminology electives (on topics such as juvenile justice, policy, corrections, victimization, policing, and so on), a sociology elective (on topics such as inequality, mental health, deviance, and so on) and a final independent portfolio project.
This can be completed in 2 to 4 semesters, fully online, or a combination of online and in-person course offerings.
